For the target enthusiast audience, single-channel memory, non-user-upgradeable components, sub-four-hour battery life and the lack of a cutting-edge Maxwell GPU will detract from the overall package. Neither of these should be considered a deal breaker - this remains a very enjoyable machine - but put the imperfections together and you start to wonder: is it worth holding o...

Still, overall we’d have to give the Lenovo ThinkPad T440s a thumbs up for solid all-around performance, a clean redesign, and its sturdy, resilient, industrial-strength construction.

For being a $200 laptop, the Acer C720 performance wasn't bad at all. The Haswell Celeron performed surprisingly decent with both CPU and GPU tasks.

The Aspire S7 isn’t perfect, but it is going to be a solid choice for a lot of users – particularly those who want a stylish machine that looks as good in the conference room as it does in the coffee shop.

The good news for first-time Air purchasers, is that they'll be getting Intel Haswell-based models at a cheaper price than the 2012 MacBook Airs. However, savvy buyers might want to wait until autumn to get their hands on a MacBook Air running Mavericks.

Sony Vaio Pro 11 offers a rare combination of attractive attributes: our test model weighs less than 900 grams (2 pounds), has a good Full HD IPS display, a stylish design and sufficient performance for most tasks. Overall, a good mix of important attributes. The Sony Vaio Pro 11 is a light Ultrabook that requires a few compromises. The price of 1,100 Euros (~$1458) places t...

Razer has done an amazing job of trimming away superfluous features, increasing performance, and decreasing bulk for its new Blade. There's nary a capable Windows gaming notebook that's this portable and good looking, and it's largely due to Razer's affinity for custom parts.

Toshiba's Portege Z10t offers plenty of performance in a slim and very light form factor. It's a hybrid Ultrabook that ships with a keyboard dock, and as far as hybrid docks go, it's one of the better ones. The keys feel good and are backlit, and there are full-sized ports that you can take advantage of. Unfortunately, battery life is short, and the dock stopped working at r...

The Acer Aspire R7 is actually fairly reasonably priced considering its features. There isn't really a similar sized hybrid laptop that compares to it but the closest would be the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 which is more compact and better suited for those that want to use it also as a tablet.

Toshiba's ambitious Kirabook has a screen that rivals Apple's MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and a price to match. It's a solid, useful laptop, but for these prices, the design should really be more exciting.

The Asus S500C is far from a bad machine, but the 720p display, relatively slow processor and limited memory mean that it's not one for the demanding user. It's also not exactly bargain of the century either, and users who want a simple web experience might find themselves better served with one of Asus's brilliant Android tablets instead.
